A little about me...
Hi there! My name is Miranda Caley and I own Glonney Designs and I create brightly coloured kiln glass art works and jewellery from my home studio in Kirk Michael, a village on the west coast of the Isle of Man.
I launched Glonney Designs in 2012 after returning home to the Isle of Man from university where my love of glass was discovered. After working with many different media during the first year of my 3D Design degree at Manchester Metropolitan University I fell in love with the tactility of glass. I then spent the rest of my degree studying glass blowing combined with kiln glass work.
My work is heavily inspired by the bold, bright colours that are picked out from the Isle of Man’s striking scenery as well as its rich heritage. This link to the Isle of Man is reflected in the name I chose for my glass business as the Manx Gaelic word ‘glonney’ translates as ‘glass’.
For the last couple of years I have been having some time out of the studio to concentrate on raising my young family. I am now back working when I can (toddlers are demanding…who knew) I am definitely enjoying stretching my creative legs once again!
If you would like something more bespoke please get in touch I love a good challenge!
I look forward to hearing from you!
